Letter from Rev. Sarah Lammert to Religious Leaders

The AUUA Board would like to share this letter from Rev. Sarah Lammert, the Executive Secretary of the Ministerial Fellowship Committee, regarding the removal of Rev. Dr. Todd Eklof from fellowship with the Unitarian Universalist Association. This action occurs in the wake of actions he took at the 2019 General Assembly.

Benefits for Administrative Professionals

In alignment with the UUA, the AUUA Board views administrators as religious professionals. We encourage congregations to view them that way also and to extend the same support and expectations of senior administrative staff that they do for all other religious professionals, including policies related to compensation & benefits, professional development expenses, and sabbatical leave.

Statement from the AUUA Board

We, the Board of Directors serving the Association of Unitarian Universalist Administrators, regret the harm caused by the recent distribution at General Assembly of a publication by  Rev. Dr. Todd Eklof.  When he was invited  to be the keynote speaker for our AUUA Professional Days, we were not aware of the book or his intentions regarding its release. His keynote speech was on a topic completely unrelated to the subject matter of his book. Rev. Eklof’s role as our keynote speaker, was, by no means, intended to serve as an endorsement by the AUUA  of his book or his subsequent actions related to it.

The AUUA remains dedicated to working against racism and oppression in all its forms.
