Kathleen Montgomery (Kay) serves as the Executive Vice President of the Unitarian Universalist Association. In this capacity she is responsible for the day-to-day management of this religious denomination of 1050 congregations. The Association has a staff of approximately 200 and an annual budget of $30,000,000.
Montgomery was appointed to this position in 1985. She manages and coordinates the programs of the Association and has, at one time or an other, directly supervised each staff group. Her professional background is in fundraising, organizational development, non-profit management, and church administration . She describes herself as a "religious feminist, deeply committed to issues of inclusiveness and justice." She speaks and preaches in congregations and other organizations throughout the United States, has edited two books, contributed to a number of others, and is the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Meadville/Lombard Theological School. She is the mother of two married sons and has five grandchildren.
She is a member of the First Church of Jamaica Plain in Boston and has served, she says, on pretty much every possible committee in a congregation, a district, or the UUA.
Lunch or Dinner: If you would like to join up with a group of administrators for lunch or dinner, a good place to meet up would be the exhibit booth, where sign-up sheets for dinners will be kept. 5:45 is the time to meet for dinner.

AUUA PROFESSIONAL DAY
Conflict Resolution for Church Administrators
Have you ever, as a Church Administrator, had to deal with conflict? Whether you’re setting boundaries for the staff within a church-wide conflict, or dealing with “difficult people,” many of us has had to draw upon our inner resources to manage unpleasant situations.
Come join us as Cilla Raughley leads us in this four hour workshop! We'll be discussing various models of conflict management and conflict resolution in a highly interactive (and unforgettable) way. Participants will leave with excellent tools for responding to conflict in their own lives, and for helping others resolve their conflicts like, well, like grownups.
Cilla Raughley, MHROD, became the District Executive of the Pacific Central District - UUA in July of 2003. She was formerly an Organization Development practitioner, working with large and small organizations in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Her work focused on improving the problem solving capabilities of her client organizations, specializing in strategic planning, conflict resolution, team building and leadership development. Cilla was on the faculty of the University of San Francisco, teaching "Organizational Diagnosis" and "Organizational Intervention" in their Masters program. She remains an active volunteer for the Alzheimer's Association.
